Meet The Hijabi Chronicles, a collective of female hip-hop and spoken word artists of the Muslim faith in California. The group, lead by Alia Sharrief, launched it’s first event at La Peña Cultural Center in Berkeley, California earlier this month and plans to do more soon. On Friday, May 15th, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala – Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy – was awarded with an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree by Yale University.
